Unique
base for a
faux floral
arrangement.

I loved the springtime Tulip and Carrot floral arrangement I created and hated to store it away, but the tulip season eventually comes to an end. So, I decided to create a similar, but different, summer version.

Lemony Sunshine Centerpiece

Summertime to me is sunshine, warmth and BBQ's. I decided to go with the color yellow to represent all of that and lemons seem to be the ideal launching pad.

Like the tulip/carrot arrangement, this one makes a statement and makes me smile every time I see it. Lemon slices reminding me of lemonade, smiling daisies and lemon branches filled with sunshine.

STARTING HERE

Here's everything I purchased for this project. The vase is different from the one used for my tulip arrangement - I wanted this one to bring to mind a vintage lemonade jar. Everything needed was reasonably priced and easy to find on Amazon.

BRINGING IT TOGETHER

1You will need a smaller cylinder vase for the center to hold your flowers and branches. I used the same one I had in my previous arrangement. But this time I covered the bottom of the vase in some flexible foam sheeting I had around. This tightened up the inside so the lemon slices stayed upright and I could arrange them better.

2I then started dropping in my lemons. After the bottom layer it was clear I was going to have some gaps. So I dropped in the clear marbles to fill some of those gaps between the lemon slices and they kind of looked like ice cubes.

3I just kept working around the vase and up to the top of the center vase. It did take me more than one shot at this to get them where I wanted. Higher than the center vase shouldn't be necessary with the flowers and greenery you will be adding.

4Then came the daisies. I ordered ones that were large-faced and had the yellowish centers. I did cut and push florist foam down into the center vase to help support the stems where I wanted them.

5I bent the stems so the daisies would circle around the entire top of the vase.

6This is a shot from above once all the daisies were in. You can see there is still enough room for the branches in the center.

7Next came the branches. When searching for greenery to use I thought these really looked like lemon tree branches. Which is what led to my idea of adding whole lemons to the branches. You will need to straighten them as you need and fluff out the leaves. I did put two taller branches in the center and cut the other surrounding four shorter.

8Now for the fun part — hot gluing the lemons onto the branches. Since lemons grow on trees, make sure the stem side is facing inward, close to a branch or stem, to give that realistic appearance.

9All done! This took me just a little over an hour to do and it will be a gorgeous summer table centerpiece for months.

10This is another photo set against my aqua walls. No matter where you put it, the display brings a ray of sunshine into the room. I could see this in a kitchen setting as well. If life gives you lemons, make a floral arrangement!
